Model History and Information: The MGA was announced on 26 September 1955 and officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It was built at the MG plant in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, and was powered by a 1,489 cc four-cylinder B-series engine with a four-speed manual transmission. The British Motor Corporation built 101,081 MGAs between 1955 and 1962, roughly 95% of them for export, primarily to the United States, before the model was replaced by the MGB.
