Model History and Information: This 1:50 Diecast Masters replica of a 40-foot dry goods sea container is finished in green with CHINA SHIPPING lettered along its side. The name belongs to China Shipping Container Lines, the container carrier founded in Shanghai in 1997 as a subsidiary of the state-owned China Shipping Group. In 2016 that group merged with China Ocean Shipping Company to form China COSCO Shipping. Forty-foot dry freight containers are built with corrugated Corten steel walls and cargo doors at one end. The container system they belong to grew from the voyage of the Ideal X, which carried 58 containers from Port Newark to Houston in 1956.
