Model History and Information: Great Dane traces its history to the Savannah Blow Pipe Company, founded in Savannah, Georgia, in 1900. After the business became The Steel Products Company in 1931, its trailers took the Great Dane name, and in the 1940s it built refrigerated trailers that circulated air over blocks of ice to carry fresh produce. Its reefer line was later branded Everest, while dry vans became Champion. Great Dane builds the Everest for cold chain fleets and gives it a wood-free floor designed to resist moisture, rot and warping. This 1:50 version of the 53ft Everest reefer has a diecast body and chassis, a front refrigeration unit, opening rear doors with a diamond-pattern finish and Great Dane mud flaps.
