Model History and Information: Peterbilt unveiled the Model 589 on May 9, 2023, at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth as the successor to the Model 389, moving its traditional on-highway design from the 1.9-meter to the 2.1-meter cab platform. Orders opened that August, and production began in January 2024 at Peterbilt's factory in Denton, Texas. The truck can be built as a day cab or with 44-, 58-, 72- or 80-inch sleepers behind a 121-inch or 131-inch BBC aluminum hood. This 1:64 tandem-axle tractor pairs the 131-inch hood with a 58-inch sleeper and the Legendary package, which Peterbilt describes as including the original 1939 script logo, bright spears on the hood sides, polished fenders and bright rocker panels. It is finished in red.
