Model History and Information: The Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8 appeared in 1993 as a roadgoing homologation model for a racing version. Based on the type 964, it used the wider body of the contemporary Turbo, a more prominent front spoiler and an adjustable rear wing. Aluminium doors and bonnet, thinner side glass, and a cabin without rear seats helped reduce weight. Its air-cooled, naturally aspirated flat-six displaced 3,746 cc and produced 300 PS. The RS 3.8 linked the 964 generation's road cars to Porsche's GT competition programme while retaining the basic rear-engined 911 layout.
