Model History and Information: Western Star introduced the 49X in 2020 as a Class 8 vocational truck for applications ranging from construction, logging and oilfield work to over-the-road hauling. Its X-Series cab is built from premium-grade aluminum with steel reinforcements, the chassis uses a heavy-duty vocational frame for severe service, and buyers can choose Detroit or Cummins engines, with a Meritor P600 planetary axle available in tandem or tridem form for heavy haul work. For set-forward front axle configurations Western Star added an optional power hood that allows higher horsepower and more cooling in heavy-haul, oilfield service and construction applications. This 1:16 radio-control model reproduces a green tandem-axle heavy-haul tractor with a fifth wheel and an Oversize Load sign.
