Model History and Information: Renault chairman Pierre Dreyfus launched the project that became the Renault 4 in early 1956, with the aim of replacing the 4CV and competing with the Citroën 2CV. The car was presented in 1961 and stayed in production until 1992. Renault states that 8,135,424 were built and that the car was sold in more than 100 countries. The Clan was a trim level with special decals, and the final 1,000-unit Bye Bye series of 1992 was based on the Clan. This version is finished in Beige.
