Model History and Information: The Cat® 745 is an articulated dump truck built to haul material across rough, soft, or steep ground where rigid-frame trucks struggle. Caterpillar rates its heaped capacity at 26 cubic meters (33.4 cubic yards) and its payload at 41 tonnes (45.2 tons), powered by a Cat C18 engine with an automatic-shift nine-speed forward, two-speed reverse transmission built for articulated trucks. The articulating hitch, built around a cast-steel head bolted to a forged-steel tube, gives the truck its steering articulation, while hitch oscillation keeps all wheels in ground contact over uneven terrain. This 1:24 scale radio-control model reproduces the truck with individual RC movement of the rear dump body, plus working lights and sound.
