Model History and Information: BRP launched the Can-Am Defender at its dealer meeting in Nashville on September 21, 2015, as the company's first utility side-by-side vehicle. In BRP's 2022 specifications, the Defender HD9 uses a Rotax 976 cc V-twin with a PRO-TORQ CVT transmission, and the platform offers a multifunction cargo box, an 83-inch wheelbase and 2,500 lb of towing capacity. The XT package adds a Visco-Lok QE front differential, 14-inch cast-aluminum wheels, a VERSA-PRO bolster bench seat with an adjustable driver seat, a full HMWPE skid plate, a 4,500 lb winch, an XT front bumper and a full hard roof.
