Model History and Information: Bonanza Air Lines was a regional carrier serving the American Southwest, with a network centred on Phoenix and Las Vegas. It stepped up to jet equipment in the mid-1960s with the Douglas DC-9 Series 10, which could bring jet speed to shorter regional runways that the first generation of jetliners could not use. Bonanza's independent history ended in 1968, when it merged with Pacific Air Lines and West Coast Airlines to form Air West, and its DC-9s passed to the new company.
