Model History and Information:N767BA was the 767 prototype and the first of the type built. Construction started at Everett on 6 July 1979, the aircraft was rolled out on 4 August 1981 wearing Boeing's own colours, and project test pilot Tommy Edmonds took it into the air from Paine Field on 26 September 1981. Fitted with Pratt & Whitney JT9D turbofans, it carried the bulk of the certification programme for a design that was Boeing's first wide-body twin and its first airliner flown by a crew of two. The airframe stayed in Boeing's hands for more than two decades afterwards, serving as a test bed.
