Model History and Information: The Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC was the range-topping coupe of the W126 S-Class family, built from 1986 to 1991 with a 5.6-litre V8. Owners who wanted more than the factory offered could send their car to AMG’s works in Affalterbach, which built a series of 560 SEC conversions known for enlarged engines and a distinctive Wide-Body kit with flared front and rear fenders to cover wider wheels and tyres. AMG was still an independent tuning company at the time; Mercedes-Benz took a controlling interest in AMG in 1999 and became its sole owner in 2005. This example, in silver, represents the Wide-Body edition of the 560 SEC.
