1:50 1963 Volkswagen Type 2
Product Dimensions: 3.37 x 1.35 x 1.53 in.
Model History and Information: The split-windscreen Type 2 was built from March 1950 until the end of the 1967 model year, first at Wolfsburg and, from 1956, at the dedicated Transporter factory in Hanover. The 1963 model year brought a more powerful 1493 cc engine of 51 horsepower and a noticeably larger tailgate with a bigger rear window; because the wider opening left no room on the rear pillars, the Samba lost its rear corner windows and dropped from twenty-three to twenty-one panes. Panel vans, pick-ups and microbuses on this platform became a familiar sight in delivery fleets throughout the period.
