Model History and Information: The Cat 150 AWD JOY is a Caterpillar motor grader for road maintenance, fine grading and site preparation, with a 12 ft blade width. JOY refers to the joystick control layout, which replaces the control levers with joysticks to reduce hand and arm movement and operator fatigue. In Caterpillar's joystick graders, the left joystick handles gear shifting and travel direction, while the right joystick controls the drawbar, circle and moldboard. The front wheels follow the joystick input through a follow-steer system. AWD stands for All-Wheel Drive, an option that assists with traction and maneuvering the machine.
