Model History and Information: The Cat® 336E H, introduced in 2012 and shipping to Cat dealers by April 2013, was Caterpillar's first hydraulic hybrid excavator, in the 36-tonne class. Instead of a battery, it used a hydraulic energy-storage system that captured the swing brake energy of the upper structure in accumulators and released it during swing acceleration, cutting fuel use by up to 33 percent compared with the 336D doing the same truck-loading work. It ran a Cat C9.3 engine rated at 286 hp (213 kW) net flywheel power, with an operating weight of about 82,000 lb (37,200 kg). This 1:50 scale model reproduces that hybrid configuration.
