Model History and Information: The Cat® 836 Landfill Compactor entered Caterpillar's landfill line in 1993 and has remained in production for more than three decades. It is built to crush and compact municipal waste at landfill sites, using its operating weight and four heavy, spiked steel wheels to break down refuse and raise compaction density with each pass. A heavy-duty torque converter transfers engine torque to the drivetrain so the machine can keep moving through buried debris, while single-lever steering and a pressurized, filtered cab support the operator in the dusty, abrasive conditions typical of a working landfill.
