Model History and Information: Caterpillar built the original D10 from 1977 to 1986 as the first tractor to use its elevated-sprocket high-drive design, which separated the undercarriage from the drivetrain to reduce wear; the lineage continued as the D10N, D10R and D10T before Caterpillar revived the D10 name for a Next Generation model. That current D10 is up to 4% more fuel-efficient than the D10T2 it replaces, using a stator clutch torque converter and load-sensing hydraulics to send more power to the ground. It ships ready for Cat MineStar Command for Dozing, supporting remote and semi-autonomous operation in mining and heavy earthmoving. This 1:50 scale model reproduces the current Next Generation D10.
