Model History and Information: The current Cat D3 belongs to Caterpillar's Next Generation small-dozer lineup, shown alongside the D1 and D2 at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in March 2020 and built to replace the D3K2, D4K2 and D5K2 platform it shares its base machine with. Caterpillar's D1, D2 and D3 line spans 80 to 104 net horsepower and 18,240 to 21,150 pounds of operating weight, and gave the new small-dozer line updated styling and a fuel-efficient low-emission engine. Used for grading, backfilling and light-to-medium dozing on confined sites, the D3 sits at the bottom of Caterpillar's track-type tractor range.
