Model History and Information: The Cat D5K2 was part of Caterpillar's earlier small-dozer platform, alongside the D3K2 and D4K2, before the Next Generation D1, D2 and D3 line replaced all three at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in March 2020. In its Low Ground Pressure (LGP) form, the D5K2 rode on wider, longer tracks that spread the machine's weight for grading and dozing on soft ground where a standard-width undercarriage would sink. Caterpillar built the D5K2 as a small track-type tractor for construction and site work rather than heavy mining.
