Model History and Information: This replica combines a Western Star 4900 SF chassis with an Ox Bodies Stampede dump body. Western Star offered the 4900 in set-forward axle form with a 123-inch bumper-to-back-of-cab dimension, and its specifications list Detroit DD15 and DD16 engines, in line with the Detroit Diesel engine named in the title. The Stampede is an elliptical dump body with smooth, seamless, full-length radius sides and no vertical weld seams, built from commercial grade 1/4-inch AR450 Hardox steel. Ox Bodies aims it at extreme duty applications involving large rock, construction riprap and demolition materials. The model pairs a gold cab with a black Stampede body and adds a pusher axle ahead of the tandem drive axles.
