Model History and Information: This set pairs a Western Star 49X tridem tractor with an XL Specialized lowboy. Daimler Truck introduced the 49X in September 2020 after designing it from the ground up for vocational customers, with a cab of steel-reinforced aluminum. Western Star positions the truck for construction, logging, oilfield and over-the-road hauling and offers Meritor drive axles in tandem or tridem form for heavy haul. XL Specialized Trailers introduced the XL 120 Low-Profile hydraulic detachable gooseneck, which the company also calls the XL 120 HDG, in June 2015, with a rear deck prepped for a booster.
