Model History and Information: Peterbilt introduced the Model 589 on May 9, 2023, at a launch event at Texas Motor Speedway, presenting it as a traditional on-highway truck to succeed the Model 389. Customer orders opened on August 4, 2023, and production began in January 2024 in Denton, Texas. Its styling uses a wrap-around aluminum grille crown, a stainless steel grille, dual stainless steel external air cleaners, pod-mounted headlights and the bird hood ornament, and the aluminum hood is offered in 121-inch or 131-inch bumper to back of cab lengths.
