Model History and Information: Wild Weasel was the US Air Force code name for aircraft equipped to suppress enemy air defences by locating and attacking radar-guided surface-to-air missile sites, a concept developed during the Vietnam War from 1965. With mounting F-105 attrition, thirty-six F-4C Phantom IIs were converted to the Wild Weasel IV configuration, which also bore the unofficial designation EF-4C. Armed with anti-radiation missiles such as the AGM-45 Shrike, these Phantoms flew defence-suppression missions in Southeast Asia, operating from bases including those in Thailand. This model represents an EF-4C in that Wild Weasel role.
