Model History and Information: The Rafale DQ is the two-seat export version built for the Qatar Emiri Air Force. Qatar evaluated the Rafale against several Western fighters before agreeing a purchase with France in 2015; the initial order of 24 aircraft was later enlarged toward 36. First deliveries began in 2019, providing a modern multirole type to succeed the ageing Mirage 2000-5 fleet. The DQ keeps the twin-engine, canard delta layout and advanced avionics of French Rafales, tailored to Qatari requirements, and gives crews a dual-seat platform useful for training and complex strike work.
