Tornado ECR 46+54, TLG-51, Schleswig-Jagel AB, July 2017 (1:72 Scale)
Product Dimensions: 9.28 x 7.61 x 3.26 in.
Model History and Information: The electronic-combat/reconnaissance model is the Tornado tailored for suppression of enemy air defences, carrying the AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missile and an emitter-locator system that detects and classifies hostile radars. In the German Air Force these specialised aircraft are concentrated in Tactical Air Wing 51 'Immelmann' at Schleswig/Jagel, which absorbed the defence-suppression mission and its ECR fleet from the disbanded Lechfeld wing in 2013. The unit descends from earlier reconnaissance duties and bears the honour name of a First World War aviator. Photographed at its home base in mid-2017, this airframe represents the Luftwaffe's dedicated radar-suppression capability during the Tornado's long service twilight, a role the wing continues to hold as the type approaches replacement. The named serial, unit, date and finish on this model identify the individual historical subject represented: Tornado ECR 46+54, TLG-51, Schleswig-Jagel AB, July 2017 (1:72 Scale).
