Model History and Information: The Cat® 395 is Caterpillar's Next Generation large excavator, introduced to replace the 390F with, Caterpillar says, up to 10 percent more production, twice the structural durability, and up to 20 percent lower maintenance costs. It runs a Cat C18 engine rated at 543 hp (405 kW), with an operating weight of about 205,471 lb, and a dedicated hydrostatic swing circuit borrowed from larger Cat mining shovels such as the 6015B that raises swing torque and stick force by about 10 percent. This release represents the 395's General Purpose (GP) front, Caterpillar's standard configuration for digging and loading rather than the dedicated mass-excavation or long-reach fronts offered for the model. This 1:87 scale model reproduces that GP configuration.
