Model History and Information: The Cat 6060 is a large hydraulic mining shovel used to load ultra-class haul trucks in surface mines. Caterpillar builds it in front-shovel (FS) and backhoe configurations, each carrying the same 34 cubic meter (44.5 cubic yard) bucket, rated to 4-pass load 218 to 227 tonne (240 to 250 ton) trucks like the Cat 793D, 793F, and MT4400D AC. The standard drive uses two Cat 3512C diesel engines rated at a combined 3,000 hp (2,240 kW) gross, with an AC electric-drive version, the 6060 AC, offered as a lower-cost-per-ton alternative. Bucket payload is rated at 61 tonnes (67 tons), and operating weight runs 569 to 570 tonnes depending on configuration. The shovel's engine output and hydraulic system are built for fast cycle times and high loading productivity.
