Model History and Information: Caterpillar launched the current D5 dozer in 2019 to replace the D6N, pairing a Cat C7.1 engine rated at 170 net horsepower with a fully automatic three-speed transmission and lock-up clutch for faster cycle times. The D5 is offered in Standard or Low Ground Pressure (LGP) form, with either a push-arm or Variable Pitch Angle Tilt (VPAT) blade. Its C7.1 engine meets U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V emission standards, and the LGP VPAT version runs on 33-inch shoes for a ground pressure of 4.7 psi. This HO-scale replica reproduces the D5 with a movable, foldable front blade and a three-shank ripper.
