Model History and Information: The Cat® M323F is a road-rail wheeled excavator that travels and works directly on railway tracks, used by rail construction and maintenance crews for ballast work, track upkeep, and lineside tasks. It is built to run on any of three gauges Caterpillar lists for the model — UIC standard gauge (1,435 mm), metric gauge (1,000 mm), or broad gauge (1,600 mm) — using a hydrostatic rail axle system with rail all-wheel drive, and it can travel up to 20 km/h (12 mph) on rail. A removable counterweight lets the machine meet both road and rail weight regulations while keeping its lifting and excavation performance. This 1:87 scale Cat Yellow model is supplied with three interchangeable work tools and is built to a smaller scale than the 1:50 Cat Yellow and Safety Yellow M323F editions also in the Diecast Masters range.
