Model History and Information: The Cat D5M was built from 1996 to 2003 as a larger version of the D5 line, fitted with Caterpillar's elevated, high-drive sprocket undercarriage. Positioned between the compact D4 and the medium D6 in Caterpillar's track-type tractor range, the D5M was used for grading, spreading and light-to-medium dozing on construction and site-development jobs before Caterpillar replaced it with the D5N in 2003. This 1:87 scale replica reproduces the D5M in miniature with a movable dozing blade.
