10.5cm StuH.42 Ausf.G, Ardennes 1944
Product Dimensions: 3.36 x 1.62 x 1.18 in.
Model History and Information: This Dragon Armor edition is identified as 10.5cm StuH.42 Ausf.G, Ardennes 1944. Its finish and unit caption distinguish the collectible; the account below addresses the documented history of the real vehicle type. The Sturmhaubitze 42 was the close-support member of the Sturmgeschutz family: as more and more StuG III were pulled into the anti-tank role with their long 7.5 cm guns, the German army needed a vehicle that could still put a heavy high-explosive shell onto infantry positions. The answer was a 10.5 cm leFH 18 field howitzer, modified for electric firing and fitted with a muzzle brake, mounted in the same casemate. The first dozen were built on repaired StuG III hulls, and Alkett produced 1,299 on Ausf. G chassis between March 1943 and the end of the war.
