Model History and Information: The Air Force chose the Black Hawk in 1981 to replace its Jolly Green Giant rescue helicopters, adding an air refuelling probe, extra cabin fuel and heavier machine guns. Those aircraft, first called Credible Hawk, became the MH-60G Pave Hawk, and in 1991 the ones assigned to rescue work were redesignated HH-60G while the special operations machines kept the MH prefix; the two were otherwise the same helicopter. Their job is recovering people under fire. They flew rescue cover over Iraq in 1991, over the Balkans later that decade, and disaster relief from Mozambique to Japan. The configuration and markings represented are: HH-60G Pave Hawk - 89-26201 55th RQS 2008.
