Model History and Information: The Cat 24 is Caterpillar's largest motor grader, built for heavy grading and maintenance of large mine haul roads and major earthworks. It is powered by a Cat C27 engine, a 27-liter unit Caterpillar rates at a base power of 535 hp (399 kW) that rises within its variable-horsepower range up to 694 hp (518 kW) as load increases, driving a 7.3-meter moldboard on a machine weighing roughly 74.9 tons.
