Model History and Information: First shown at the 2011 Work Truck Show, the Western Star 4700 became the entry model in a lineup that Western Star organized as the 4700, 4800, 4900 and 6900. SFFA refers to the set-forward front axle configuration represented here, while the alternative set-back version placed the steer axle farther rearward. Both versions shared a 110-inch bumper-to-back-of-cab dimension. Western Star designed the 4700 with clean back-of-cab configurations and in-cab batteries to simplify body installation, and its specifications list Detroit DD13 as well as Cummins engines with Detroit, Eaton Fuller and Allison transmissions. This model captures the 4700 as a tandem-axle day cab tractor with a red cab.
