StuG.III Ausf.A LAH w/STRAW GRASS
Product Dimensions: 2.94 x 1.60 x 1.07 in.
Model History and Information: Before the StuG III became Germany's most numerous armoured fighting vehicle, it was a tightly defined infantry-support weapon. The Ausf.A used the Panzer III chassis and a low, fixed superstructure mounting the 7.5 cm StuK 37. Thirty production vehicles, plus an earlier pilot series, went to units in 1940, the same year the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler received its own Sturmgeschutz battery. Their purpose was to engage bunkers and gun positions by direct fire, which explains the short, howitzer-like barrel; only from the Ausf.F of 1942 did the StuG III gain the long anti-tank gun that later made it a tank killer as well as an assault gun.
