Model History and Information: Peterbilt launched the Model 579 at the 2012 Mid-America Trucking Show and introduced the 579 UltraLoft in Scottsdale, Arizona, in February 2018: an 80-inch integral sleeper developed with driver input for team drivers, driver trainers and drivers who spend weeks on the road. Peterbilt describes the UltraLoft with eight feet of headroom and 70 cubic feet of storage. The trailer is a Champion from Great Dane, a company founded in Savannah, Georgia, in 1900. Great Dane builds the Champion as its dry van series in 28-foot pup, 48-foot and 53-foot lengths, with sheet-and-post and composite versions. This 1:50 set pairs a white tandem-axle 579 UltraLoft tractor with a white 53-foot Champion dry cargo trailer.
