Model History and Information: The Cat 745 is a three-axle articulated dump truck built to haul material across rough, soft, or steep ground where rigid trucks struggle. It is powered by a Cat C18 ACERT engine rated at 511 hp (381 kW) gross and 504 hp (376 kW) net, and carries a rated payload of 45.2 tons (41 tonnes) with a heaped body capacity of 32.7 cubic yards (25 cubic meters). Its articulated hitch and all-wheel drive give it strong traction and maneuverability, and the cab introduced with this generation added a combined hoist/transmission lever unique to Cat articulated trucks along with Advanced Automatic Traction Control and Automatic Retarder Control. The 745 is used in construction, quarrying, and site development for moving earth and aggregates over challenging haul roads.
