Product Dimensions: Cat 769: 6.10 x 2.99 x 3.03 in.; Cat 770: 7.13 x 3.78 x 3.31 in.
Model History and Information: This 1:50 model traces the lineage of Caterpillar's off-highway hauler from the original Cat 769 to today's Cat 770. Caterpillar introduced the 769 in 1963 as its first serious off-highway truck, powered by a Cat D343T six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine and carrying a nominal 35-ton body capacity. The 769 series stayed in production for decades before Caterpillar replaced it in 2007 with the 770, a 38-ton-capacity truck built for quarries, construction sites, and smaller mining operations. The current-production 770 uses a Cat C15 ACERT engine rated at 511 hp (381 kW) gross and 476 hp (355 kW) net, with a nominal 40-ton payload and a 32.8 cubic yard (25.1 cubic meter) heaped body, sized to match Cat wheel loaders such as the 988H and 990H.
