A-7E Corsair II U.S. NAVY VA-46 Clansmen, Desert Storm, 1991
Product Dimensions: 7.69 x 6.45 x 2.68 in.
Model History and Information: The LTV A-7E Corsair II entered U.S. Navy service in 1969 as a single-seat, subsonic light attack aircraft built around a turbofan engine and a computerised navigation-attack system that gave it unusually accurate conventional bombing for its size. By January 1991 the type was nearing retirement, and its last combat deployment came during Operation Desert Storm, when Navy A-7E squadrons flying from USS John F. Kennedy, including VA-46 and VA-72, flew some of the war's opening strikes against targets in Iraq. Those squadrons stood down within months, closing out more than two decades of Corsair II carrier operations.
