Model History and Information: This 1:72 scale Corgi Aviation Archive model replicates a Martin B-26C-45-MO Marauder, serial 42-107752, named 'Miss Arkansas' and flown by Lt Leo A. Lampman of the 444th Bombardment Squadron, 320th Bombardment Group, 12th US Army Air Force. Early crews nicknamed the B-26 the 'Widow Maker' and the 'Flying Coffin' after a high accident rate in training, yet the type went on to post the lowest loss rate of any USAAF bomber of the Second World War. The Group earned a Distinguished Unit Citation for an attack on Axis positions at Fondi supporting the Fifth Army's advance on Rome. Miss Arkansas was among the most flamboyantly marked 444th Squadron aircraft, carrying sharks'-teeth nose art and a painted 'beach belle' pin-up on both sides of the nose.
