Model History and Information: The Type 35 was introduced at the 1924 French Grand Prix at Lyon and became the most successful racing car of its era, credited by the factory with more than two thousand five hundred victories, including five consecutive wins at the Targa Florio between 1925 and 1929. Its straight-eight engine of just under two litres used a roller bearing crankshaft that allowed it to run to six thousand revolutions per minute. The cast aluminium wheels, with eight flat ribbon spokes and an integral brake drum, were patented by Bugatti: changing a wheel also renewed the brakes, a real advantage during a pit stop.
