Model History and Information: Caterpillar listed the 315D L among its small hydraulic excavators and presented it with increased horsepower, improved controllability and a redesigned operator station. Its Cat C4.2 engine produced five percent more power than the engine it replaced, allowing more hydraulic pressure, while a boom and stick regeneration circuit saved energy during boom-down and stick-in movements. Caterpillar also removed the work mode and power mode switches so full power was available at all times. Diecast Masters included the 315D L in its Micro Constructors line, which the company introduced as six popular Cat machines reproduced in a miniature scale with moveable features. This single release mounts the excavator on an interlocking landscape base under a clear cover, and the upper structure carries 315D L decals.
