Model History and Information: This version of the miniature Cat 420E backhoe loader is finished entirely in black and comes in a Cat-branded plastic tool box with a bag of play sand and small red barrier pieces, as the product photos show. The full-size 420E is a center-pivot backhoe loader that Caterpillar sold as the 420E and the 420E IT, with standard pilot-operated joystick controls, a more comfortable operator station, an extendible stick design and increased performance. Caterpillar explains that the integrated toolcarrier (IT) loader linkage gives higher breakout forces and parallel lift for efficient loading and material handling, and that it accepts a wide range of Cat Work Tools. The black paint marks this set apart from the yellow Micro Constructors release of the same backhoe.
