Model History and Information: Caterpillar places the D8T in its large dozer range and engineered it to be durable and reliable in the toughest working conditions. The tractor uses a Cat C15 engine that meets emissions targets through ACERT Technology, and a high-efficiency torque divider with freewheel stator multiplies torque while shielding the drive train from sudden shocks. The transmission provides three speeds forward and three in reverse through large-diameter, oil-cooled clutches. At the rear, Caterpillar offers single and multi-shank rippers made to penetrate tough material and rip it thoroughly. The Micro Constructors miniature, item 85978, reproduces the front blade, the rear ripper and D8T decals, and it is displayed on an interlocking landscape base under a clear cover.
