Model History and Information: The C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, introduced for the 2020 model year, is the first series-production Corvette with a mid-mounted engine rather than a front engine. Moving the engine behind the cabin shifts the car's weight distribution and lowers its centre of gravity, which Chevrolet says improves cornering grip and stability compared with earlier front-engine Corvettes. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.2-litre LT2 V8 producing around 495 hp, giving a 0-60 mph time of under three seconds and a top speed of about 194 mph. The C8 retains the removable-roof coupe format and rear storage compartment familiar from previous Corvette generations.
