Model History and Information: Ferrari created the Dino brand for smaller six-cylinder sports cars associated with Enzo Ferrari's son Alfredo. The 246 GT, introduced in 1969 after the 206, used a mid-mounted 2.4-litre V6 and became one of the era's defining Italian road cars. Styled by Pininfarina under Aldo Brovarone, it carried over the 206's low, curved bodywork on a longer wheelbase, with a steel body replacing the 206's aluminium construction. Production of the 246 GT and its later GTS targa variant continued to 1974, reaching 3,569 cars combined. The coupe gained further recognition through Tony Curtis's character in the television series The Persuaders!, which aired from 1971.
