Model History and Information: This 1:72 scale Aviation Archive model replicates English Electric Canberra B.6 WT370, flown by Wing Commander Paul Mallorie of RAF No.139 Squadron during the 1956 Suez Crisis. As part of Operation Musketeer, No.139 Squadron's Canberras deployed from Binbrook to RAF Nicosia, marking targets with incendiaries and 1,000lb bombs for bomber waves flying from Malta. On 3 November 1956, Mallorie led the squadron against the Egyptian airfield at Luxor, targeting Soviet-built Il-28 'Beagle' bombers on the ground. With smoke obscuring the site and daylight fading, Mallorie led an audacious low-level dive-bombing attack against the parked aircraft. WT370 and the Canberras of No.139 Squadron remain among the most distinctively marked aircraft of this controversial episode in British military history.
