Model History and Information: The German Air Force has flown the Eurofighter since 2003 and has steadily widened the type's role from air defence and air superiority towards full multirole employment including air-to-ground missions. German Eurofighters equip several tactical air force wings, among them Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 31 "Boelcke" at Nörvenich and Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 73 "Steinhoff" at Rostock-Laage, and they deploy regularly for NATO air policing rotations, including detachments to Iceland and the Baltic states. German military aircraft carry serials in the traditional two-plus-two Luftwaffe style, with the Eurofighter fleet numbered in the 30 and 31 series.
