Model History and Information: The Hawaii Air National Guard began receiving F-102 Delta Dagger interceptors on 7 December 1960, eventually operating twenty-nine of them, and the 199th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron became the flying squadron of the newly formed 154th Fighter Group. The unit flew the delta-winged interceptor through the 1960s and kept it far longer than most Guard units, which had moved on to the F-106, ending up as the longest user of the type. The last Delta Daggers left Air National Guard service in October 1976, when the squadron converted to the F-4C Phantom II.
