Product Dimensions: 14.1 x 9.3 x 3.3 in.
Model History and Information: Developed in secret by Lockheed's Skunk Works, the F-117 Nighthawk was the first operational aircraft designed around stealth technology, using faceted surfaces and radar-absorbent materials to evade detection. Sixty-four were built, comprising five full-scale development aircraft and fifty-nine production machines, and the type saw combat over Panama, Iraq and Yugoslavia. Officially retired from combat in 2008, a number of airframes were retained rather than scrapped and have continued flying from Nevada in test and adversary-support roles, activity that remained visible into the 2020s. The single-seat, subsonic, twin-engine design carried its ordnance internally to preserve its low radar cross-section.
